Description
This listing is for an Exact color REPRODUCTION of the original wrist hang tag for the SWEET SUE strung dolls made by the American Character doll company in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s.   This tag features a horseshoe shape.    These dolls had wigs and were strung ( did not walk).   They had very small hands.   Some are almost suntanned looking with darker coloring, not like the pale later Sweet Sue dolls.   I have added a photo of one of my early Sweet Sue dolls ( redressed) for your reference.     (DOLL is NOT for Sale).
Judith Izen’s book on American Character dolls shows these dolls on pages 83 and 87( with this tag).    There is printing on 2 sides of this tag.    The back of the tag states that Sweet Sue is made of long life plastic.     This tag is made on professional acid free card stock and is glossy like the original.    This is the smallest ( in size) Sweet Sue tag that was made.  This tag is historically accurate and has Not been Altered, so it has the same very slight flaws as my original tag.   In this case, the stars are not centered very well on my original.   This is a great reference/ replacement item for your doll collection.
